Please check back during the Fall to apply for our Spring 2022 Internship.
Investing in the next generation is at the heart of Lake Country Medical Group. Our Student Internship Program focuses on teaching and equipping future medical providers. Students selected in this competitive program get hands-on involvement in clinical responsibilities and gain invaluable medical knowledge. Several students are chosen to train under the direct mentorship of Dr. Nicolas Chronos, a cardiologist and internal medicine physician. Dr. Chronos challenges students both intellectually and personally to invest in their growth and to propel them into the medical field. Our students report that this experience has been pivotal to their professional development. Several interns have later become employees at our practice.
Please note this is an unpaid internship. Fall interns should be available to work 1-2 days per week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Working days are flexible and depend on each intern’s schedule.
Our practice is located between Athens and Milledgeville, making it especially convenient for UGA and GCSU students.

As a site for multiple research studies, Lake Country Medical Group gives interns the opportunity to get involved in research that interests them. Students in previous years have even been able to conduct their own research accessing our patient population.

Testimonials “One of the things that impressed me the most about Dr. Chronos is how he educates his patients. Dr. Chronos is very skilled at explaining diseases and diagnostic results. As a new clinician, this was an essential skill for me to learn, and Dr. Chronos helped me develop this skill. The staff at Lake Country Medical Group are welcoming and eager to teach. I previously only had experience working in acute care settings, and the team at Lake Country helped explain the processes and intricacies of primary care.” -Taylor H., Nurse Practitioner Student
“I learned more from my time at LCMG than I did in all of my undergraduate schooling. I feel so much more prepared and confident to encounter clinical scenarios. I definitely have a strong foundation for knowledge moving into graduate school because of my internship experience.” -Hannah W., Pre-Med Undergrad
“I have loved getting a glimpse of the everyday work as a doctor through working closely with Dr. Chronos. I have not only gotten to observe, but I have also gotten hands-on experience scribing as well as interacting with patients and performing EKG’s. I know this will be valuable to my professional career in the future.” -Courtney L., Pre-Med Undergrad
“I had such a good experience. I was able to learn a lot about lab values and especially about cardiac patients, which previously was one of my weaker subjects. The whole staff was extremely nice to work with and helpful in my adjustment to the practice.” -Emily P., Nurse Practitioner Student
